I can’t believe fall is knocking at our door. Did I really just type that? Yes, I did. But that is OK in my book. Not only do I love fall but I love all the cute Halloween crafts and Halloween recipes that go along with it. These Monster Felt Pencil Toppers for Halloween are a fun craft for kids of all ages.

Listen, we all need fun ways to keep the kids busy. Crafts were always the answer when my kids were younger. And since this year is looking a bit different for all of us, if your kids are homeschooling, distance learning, or hybrid learning, crafts are always a great way to encourage their creativity.

And of course, these pencil toppers don’t have to be just for Halloween. Kids will have fun making these funny monster pencil toppers all year long.

What Do I Need To Make Monster Felt Pencil Toppers Halloween Craft?

–Felt Sheets in

            Monster 1 – dark purple, light purple, white, black, red

            Monster 2 – dark green, light green, black, white, red

            Monster 3 – dark blue, light blue, black, white, red

–Fabric scissors

–Hot glue gun and clear glue sticks (for bigger kids) or liquid glue (for younger kids)

-Printable pencil topper template (download here)

–Pencils

How Do I Make Monster Felt Pencil Toppers?

Print off paper template before you get started. You can print out the pattern here.

Cutting the Monster Pattern:

Place the monster pattern pieces over top of felt sheets in the color of your choosing.

Using fabric scissors, cut along the solid lines to cut out the pattern pieces.

Assembling the Monster 1 Felt Pieces:

Preheat the hot glue gun.

Carefully glue the smaller felt pieces (the eyes and mouth) to the largest felt monster-piece pressing in place.

Glue the fringe pieces to the wrong side of the other body piece.

Apply a bead of glue along the outer edges of the smaller body piece leaving the bottom without glue.

Press the prepared monster 1 front piece to the back piece and press in place until the glue sets.

Assembling the Monster 2 Felt Pieces:

Carefully glue the smaller felt pieces (the eyes and mouth) to the largest felt monster piece pressing in place.

Glue the fringe pieces to the wrong side of the other body piece.

Apply a bead of glue along the outer edges of the smaller body piece leaving the bottom without glue.

Press the prepared monster 2 front piece to the back piece and press in place until the glue sets.

Assembling the Penguin Felt Pieces:

Carefully glue the smaller felt pieces (the eyes and mouth) to the largest felt monster piece pressing in place.

Glue the crown piece to the wrong side of the other body piece.

Apply a bead of glue along the outer edges of the smaller body piece leaving the bottom without glue.

Press the prepared monster 3 front piece to the back piece and press in place until the glue sets.

Insert a pencil into the felt monster toppers and enjoy!
